Anime Expo 2008: J-pop highlights in LA

It’s time for a blogging break to attend Anime Expo 2008 at the Los Angeles Convention Center (July 3-6). Among this year’s top attractions and major events:

*** Battle of the Bands: Thursday, July 3, 8:30 p.m. seating, event at 9 p.m., West Hall B. Anything goes as anime-inspired bands go at it.

*** Concert: Jyukai and Yoko Ishida, Friday, July 4, 11:30 a.m. seating, event at 1 p.m., Nokia Theater.

*** Concert: Shokotan (Shoko Nakagawa), Saturday, July 5, seating 11:30 a.m., event at 1 p.m., Nokia Theater.

Shokotan

Shokotan, the awe-inspiring singer who is also noted for hellacious cosplay vis-à-vis the world of anime, or Japanese animation, will also make a panel appearance at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 3 [today].

Jyukai will grant a similar audience Saturday, July 5, at 10 a.m.
